Unemployment rate

In the third quarter 2006, Labor Force is 1,084 thousand, signing an increase of 0.2 percent compared with the second quarter. During this quarter, the number of employed persons in the non-agricultural private sector is increased with 4,778 persons. This increase is noticed mainly in Manufacturing industry, Construction and Trade, while the number of employed in public sector is decreased with 1,626. At the end of the third quarter, number of registered unemployed persons is decreased from 150,000 in 149,667 and the level of unemployment for this period is13.81 percent.

The level of average monthly payment for family under social protection this quarter has a slightly increase compared with the second quarter from 4,255 leks in 4,472 leks.

The minimum wage in this quarter based on the “Decision of the Council of Ministers”no. 245 date 27.04.2006. “For the definition of the minimal wage in country level” is increased 18.6 percent achieving 1,400 leks.
The base level of unemployment benefit remains the same. The average monthly wage in the public sector is increased, from 27,606 leks in the previous quarter in 28,950 leks this quarter.
