CONSUMER PRICE INDEX MAY 2007


Consumer Price Index (CPI), during May 2007, resulted 112.1 per cent against December 2001 (December 01=100), signing a decrease of 0.8 percent against the previous month.

The annual rate in May was 1.4 percent. A year earlier the rate was 3.1 percent.

The index of “Food and non-alcoholic beverage” group signed a decrease by 2.2 percent. Within this group the highest decrease by 14.9 percent it was notice in the “vegetables include potatoes” subgroup. Here can be mentioned decrease prices of tomatoes by 33.7 percent, cucumber by 33.0 percent, pease by 26.9 percent, pepper by 12.4 percent, eggplants by 12.0 percent, etc. In May prices are decrease and in some other subgroups of this group, where can be mentioned decrease in “fish” subgroup by 0.7 percent, “milk, cheese and eggs” subgroup by 0.4 percent, “oil and fats” subgroups by 0.3 percent, etc. The index of “fruits” subgroup signed an increase by 2.7 percent, where can be mentioned the increase prices of oranges by 7.0 percent, lemons by 7.6 percent, kiwi by 2.8 percent, apple by 0.2 percent, pear by 1.7 percent, etc.

The index of “Clothing and footwear” group has not changes, in comprised with previous month.

The index of “Alcoholic beverages and tobacco” group signed an increase by 0.6 percent. This increase is results of increase of price of cigarettes by 0.8 percent.

The index of “Transport” group, in May signed a decrease by 0.2 percent. Where can be mentioned the decrease of air fares by 3.7 percent, sea fares by 1.0 percent. Within this group, the price of fuel oil signed an increase by 1.7 percent.
The index of “Health” group signed an increase by 0.3 percent. This increase is mainly results of increase tariffs paid for medical examinations by 0.8 percent.
While the monthly price index changes in the other groups vary from - 0.2 per cent to – 0.1 percent.
