Albania to have direct flights to New York
The New York-based Scanderbeg Air Corporation said Monday it will start direct flights between New York and Albania this month.
A 214-seat Boeing 767-200ER will be used for the eight-and-a-half hour service from JFK Airport to the capital city of Tirana, starting June 14, the airline's executive director Petrit Ujkaj said.
The company will also start flights between New York and Pristina, Kosovo, June 16.
The carrier is targeting the Albanian Diaspora in the United States, and offering one-way fares starting at euro250 ($355).
"The alternative to high fares and lengthy travel times is at the top of the priority list aimed at growing the market," Ujkaj said. (Skanderbegair.com, businessweek.com, AlbanianTimes.com)
