SP, SMI, SDP and PSD Boycott Round of Voting
SMI’s Meta declared that the left-wing could not have taken part in a plenary session, which did not have a consensual name for president proposed by the parties’ roundtables
TIRANA - The four leaders of the left-wing opposition, Edi Rama, Ilir Meta, Skender Gjinushi and Paskal Milo, the chairmen of the Socialist Party, Socialist Movement for Integration, Social Democrat Party and Party for Social Democracy, respectively held a meeting on Sunday to discuss the opposition’s strategy in the process of the president election after the formalization of the candidatures of Bamir Topi and Fatos Nano for president.
The opposition’s Democratic Alliance Party (DAP) has called itself out of the roundtable of the negotiations, underlining that the name of the president should be discussed in the parliament.
“The DAP will sign and vote only for those candidates that come out of discussions in the parliament.
