Tension is on the rise both in Albania and Greece due to the recently published videos by the Greek media where Greek soldiers are shown singing anti-Albanian army songs while on exercise and the two videos of Greek police beating Albanian underage emigrants published by Greek media
Deputy Minister of Defence, Petrit Karabina asked that the neighbouring country root out extreme-nationalism and hatred against Albanians. Greek newspaper Ta Nea first published the news about a video circulating on the internet presenting Greek solders singing "We are gone a make shoe-strings with Albanian guts".
Karabina was the sole official protest in Albania while in the southern town of Fier, a small group of protesters burned a Greek flag in one of the main streets.
Greek government has not yet reacted to the video, while the Greek media has condemned the video as shameful.
Meanwhile, Albanian media has protested also for what it called a "deep fear and impotence of the government to push an official protest against Greek government".
Greece is the biggest foreign investor in the country, and the Greek government is also very influential in Albanian politics.
