Albanian politician killed in car explosion
TIRANA, An Albanian official from a small political party was killed in a car explosion, 10 days before the general election on June 28, police said on Thursday.
Aleks Keka, 34, local head of the small conservative Christian Democratic Party in the northern city of Shkodra, died in the blast while traveling in his car.
Police said that the cause of the explosion was not immediately known. However, the head of the political party, Nard Ndoka, said he believed his colleague had been killed in a bomb attack.
The election campaign in the western Balkan country has already been marred by pre-election violence. Last week, a political activist from the opposition Socialists shot dead a supporter of the governing party. In early May, an opposition lawmaker was also killed. (Source: xinhuanet.com)
