Festivali I Këngës, the Albanian national final for the Eurovision Song Contest will be taking place in mid December 2007. The line up was announced earlier this week and now the hosts and the director are known as well.
Elsa Lila and Pirro Cako, two of the most popular artists in Albania will be hosting the two semi finals and the final of Festivali I Këngës, scheduled for the 14-16 of December. The show will be directed by Pali Kuke.
Elsa is currently probably the most popular artist in Albania. She has won the Festivali I Këngës twice already with Pyes Lotin in 1996, and she pulled off another victory the following year with Larg Urrejtjes in 1997. These songs were also a mirror to the country's difficult state of being in those years after the collapse of the pyramid schemes, an event which wreaked havoc all throughout Albania. Despite the difficult times, Festivali I Këngës never stopped its broadcast and went ahead as scheduled in the final weeks of December every year since its start. Elsa has also participated in the San Remo festival twice.
Pirro Cako is also famous singer in Albania and composer of many local hits including the song of Rosela Gjylbegu Pa ty, pa mua, (Festivali I Kenges 2006 runner-up) (esctoday)
