Majority in Albanian parliament to support bill limiting lawmakers' immunity

TIRANA, Albania -- Prime Minister Sali Berisha announced Monday (October 22nd) that a majority in parliament favours a draft law that would limit lawmakers' immunity from prosecution.

At a meeting with the ruling Democratic Party's parliamentary group, Berisha stressed that no member will be protected from investigation. He also urged opposition parties to back the bill.

In other news, parliament opened official procedures aimed at lifting the immunity of Foreign Minister Lulzim Basha. Prosecutors want to determine if there was corruption involved in a tender to build part of the Durres-Kukes highway.
