Rome, Italy (AlbanianTimes) 07/08/2007-- "The Italian Civil Defense Department of the Premiership has organized the sending of two of its own Canadair in Albania to support the firefighting operations of numerous forest fires.
Albania had asked to NATO and to European Union the possibility to have further air means to fight the fires. The Italian Government, in answer to the Albanian appeal, has arranged the sending of two Canadair CL-415 aircraft, able to release 6000 litres of water on the flames, at each launch.
Two Canadairs, took off from Rome-Ciampino's airport, have landed at Tirana's one. The Italian Canadair are at disposition to the local Civil Defense to support the firefighting operations of the wide forest fires that are interesting the North of the Country, in particular.
In addition, the sending of three crews has been decided, so to ensure the full operativeness of airplanes during the entire day. The Italian team will have also technicians and logistic support necessary to assure the full operativeness of this kind of planes employed in the fight the forest fires also in Albania".
