ATHENS, GREECE: Wildfire forces evacuations
Helicopters and buses rushed Monday to evacuate more than two dozen villages threatened by flames that are ravaging forests and farmland in Greece's worst wildfire disaster in memory.
The death toll is 63.
Four days of blazes from the northern border with Albania to the southern island of Crete angered Greeks who criticized the government's response and set off widespread finger-pointing.
The government implied the destruction could be part of orchestrated arson.
ISTANBUL, TURKEY: Military warns of unrest
The military warned Monday about the threat to secularism on the eve of an expected triumph of the Islamic-oriented government: the election of a loyal -- and devout -- president.
There were no signs that the military planned to disrupt Parliament's vote on Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul, but the statement was a reminder of its past interventions to enforce separation of mosque and state.
JERUSALEM: Israel says no pullout yet
