President Moisiu was honored with the medal “The High Order of King Tomislav with ribbon and great Danica.”

The President of the Republic, Alfred Moisiu was honored today with the medal “High Order of King Tomislav with ribbon and great danica (star),” which is the highest expression of gratitude by the President of the Republic of Croatia.

During the official ceremony organized on this occasion, the Croatian President Mesić expressed the high appreciation for the contribution of President Moisiu in deepening the relations between Albania and Croatia. “Behind this sentence lay many efforts, many actions and first of all, lays the capability that at the same time realistically and with vision, it can be appreciated the need and means of collaboration in all fields between our two countries.” - stressed President Mesić.

Then the Croatian President pointed out the fact that the good relations between Albania and Croatia are in the interest of our peoples and also peace, security and stability in the Balkans. While reconfirming the joint aspiration and objective of European Union and NATO integration, Mr. Mesić expressed the conviction that Albania and Croatia will continue to support one another and to further deepen the collaboration in their path towards their objective.

On his part, President Moisiu thanked for the high appreciation. “This is a special honour being paid to the President of Albania, its state and citizens and I read it as a deep appreciation for the historic ties, friendly climate and close cooperation between our two peoples and countries.

Our duty is to serve as best as possible to the citizens who have elected us and to work for the fulfilment of their aspirations for development, peace and friendship with neighbours and Euro-Atlantic integration. Such appreciations are praising for the up to the present achievements and an encouragement to do more in the future.” – stated the Head of the Albanian state.

The President Moisiu praised his friend and homologue, Stipe Mesić for the fruitful cooperation, the very good understanding between our governments and countries. At the same time Mr. Moisiu pointed out the fact that Albania and Croatia is intensively working to receive the NATO membership invitation and that our interest is the long-term, lasting peace and the stability of the region.

“I have to highly praise your viewpoint about Kosova and the need to reach there a quick solution of its status which we see as state independence and which would be a precious step for the peace and stability of the region.” – stressed President Moisiu.

In conclusion of his address, the Head of the Albanian state pointed out once again the significance and expressed the commitment for the deepening of the relations and collaboration between our countries and peoples.
