Lufthansa resumes flights to Albania after 9 years
TIRANA, Albania - Lufthansa AG on Wednesday resumed flights to Albania after a nine-year break, the Tirana airport authority said. The German airline will fly twice-daily between Munich and Tirana, using a Canadair CRJ900 jet with 80 seats, Tirana Airport Partners said. In March, Albania's Mother Teresa International Airport opened new passenger and cargo terminals following an investment of euro50 million (US$68 million) by the German-U.S. consortium that has a 20-year concession to manage the airport. Last year, British Airways landed for the first time in Albania, while Adria Airways reintroduced its service. The airport has also attracted several low-cost carriers, including Germanwings and Belleair.
