Introduction

At the beginning of 90’s the employment in the country decreased considerably as a result of the period the country experienced. In 1994 the employment rate started to increase. Afterwards a decrease can be noted, especially after 1997, year of crisis in the country.
Regarding employment by sex, while during all the period we are analyzing the employment level has been higher for males, in 2000 there is an increase of the employment level for females from 42.3 to 44.1 compared to the previous year.
During the year 2004, the total employment is increased with 5 thousands persons compared with the year 2003 , but compared with the year 2001 the number is increased with 11 thousand. This is results of total employed persons in private non-agricultural sector and in the private sector , which is higher compared with previous years. The number of employed people in the public sector is decreased as results of continuing reforms in different sector of economy. This decrease comes mainly because of the privatization of Saving Bank of Albania , and from other sectors of economy.

And for the year 2005 the total number of employment is increased with 1 thousands persons compare with year 2004. And this increasing in total number of employment comes from the non agricultural private sector and from the non budgetary public sector.

Living Standard Measurement Survey (LSMS) 2002 is very important source to describe the trends and changes in labour forces. This survey is followed by panel survey of 2003 which gives the possibility to compares the data in years. Usually this comparisons are realized in the end of the year.
Based on data from panel survey 2004, the number of persons employed in agriculture have not change compared with year 2003. (Living Standard Measurement Survey 2004).
