PODGORICA, Montenegro -- Chief UN Prosecutor Carla del Ponte on Monday (July 9th) urged Montenegro to step-up its co-operation with the ICTY.
Local authorities need to intensify their search for former Bosnian Serb leaders Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, who have both been charged with genocide and war crimes.
There have been unconfirmed reports that Karadzic may be hiding in remote mountainous areas in Montenegro, his country of birth. Montenegrin President Filip Vujanovic said his government is committed to co-operating with the tribunal and would look into ways to make its efforts more efficient.
